Graniteware 3 Quart Coffee Boiler Review

Graniteware 3 Quart Coffee Boiler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With this granite wear coffee pot you can make cowboy coffee on the campfire or the fire-pit at home. This pot is not really for the stove. This basic boiler coffee pot gets the job done. This pot has the lid attached so it won't fall out. This one is black in color.
Do not confuse a boiler pot with a percolator pot. Boiled coffee is a learned procedure and takes practice. If you cannot face having a bit of grounds in your coffee, or a dented pot with black soot marks on it, this may not be for you.
CARE OF POT: If you want it to stay nice and clean looking, wet the outside with a bit of soap before you put it on the fire, and let it dry to an invisible shield. Soot wipes right off when you wash it. Unless this stays outside all the time, this is a really smart idea to save the nice color on your pot. There is no basket, filter, tube, or other clutter to worry about, I want as little fussiness as possible for campfire coffee.
RECIPE FOR BOILED COFFEE: Here is a recipe from the book I am writing: Use 3/4 cup of coffee grounds per quart of coffee, or one coffee measure scoop per coffee cup of water. Heat the amount of water you intend to use in your pan over a hot fire, until boiling. Then add the coffee grounds, and an eggshell. Yes I said an eggshell. Get the water back to boiling as it slows for a couple of minutes after dropping in the coffee. Pull the pot off the fire and set it aside for a few minutes. Pour in a 1/2 cup of cold water. Along with the eggshells, this helps the grounds sink to the bottom of your pot. Some people do not like the cold water trick as they want the coffee as hot as possible. If that is you, just set it aside about 5 minutes to settle. Now the next secret to this is.... Don't pour it out! Instead use a scooper or a ladle to serve your coffee so that you do not stir up the grounds again. If you do not have a ladle, pour really really slow. That is why the lid on a boiler is supposed to be bigger than a lid on a percolator.
TIP: Remember not to drink the cup to the bottom, throw out the last bit that has grounds, then get a fresh cup. Now when I was a kid there were tricks that my uncles used when hunting involving socks as bag for grounds, but don't even ask me to go there. This type of pot is also convenient for leaving on the fire during the day to keep hot water going for washing dishes, bathing, cooking, or to make some hot chocolate or tea in the cup. If you have to deal with a hot pot, use thick leather gloves, you can use pliers but take care not to crack the hot paint.
Boilers tend to come in bigger sizes that campfire coffee percolators, so if you need a BIG pot, you can get a boiler all the way up to 36 cups. I hope all this helps you, Happy Trails!

Not the Sellers fault, as they are selling a pre-packaged product billed as "universal". However, the gasket doesn't work well for my 6 cup Bialetti coffee maker. It doesn't seal tight enough to brew.

Stansport Percolator Coffee Pots Review

Stansport Percolator Coffee Pots
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of the biggest size percolators you can buy for stovetop or campfire use, at 20 cups. We also use a percolator outside on our firepit at home. The straight upright shape of this style makes it an easier pot to fit on the limited space of a campstove or RV stove. The company that made this mostly makes camp gear anyway, and that is also why the handles are configured this way, for accessing the pot off a fire. It is very light in weight.
I prefer the stronger darker brew I get from a percolator, and have sworn off drip coffemakers for good. No more filters to buy, it does not have to live on my counter top like a coffee machine, to clock to set, no carafe to break, durable, and very easy to clean. If by chance you ever break a filter basket, you can get replacements and Amazon.com sells replacement glass percolator tops.
If you don't like a few loose grounds, try wetting the inside of the filter basket before you put coffee in it.Now some people are afraid of aluminum pots/pans, and this item is aluminum. There are percolators made of stainless steel if you want a look similar to this one, and there are some beautiful old fashioned enamelware pots sold at Amazon.com too. Aluminum does not rust, but it does dent easy. Enamelware chips, stainless is heavy, you decide.
If you do use this on a fire, I have a trick for you to keep the soot off and make clean-up a breeze. Get a bit of wet soap on your hands, lather up the outside of the pot and let it dry for 2 minutes. The soot goes over this dry layer and just wipes off when you wash it. Overall this is a good value, very foolproof and I recommend.

Copco Brushed 4 to 8-Cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Percolator Review

Copco Brushed 4 to 8-Cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Percolator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used this type of stove top coffee pot for years, and had my old one for probably eight years or so.
When I found this one I was happy to know I could continue to brew coffee atop the stove, my favorite.
This coffee pot was a dissapointment. As soon as I took it out of the box I noticed the handle was a bit loose. Within a couple of weeks, the handle broke off. It was if it had been glued to the pot, as there was no hole into the pot where the handle was. The coffee pot is pretty much useless now, a big dissapointment.
I hate to write bad reviews, but felt it only fair to tell the truth about my experience.
Quite possibly, I received a defective pot and it is a chance thing.
I will not order any more though on line.

Stove-Top Cappuccino Steamer Review

Stove-Top Cappuccino Steamer
Average Reviews:

This steamer makes the best foam for hot chocolates, cappiccinos, lattes, etc. It's impossible to create the same effect at home without it. Nothing gets the milk hot enough or produces the little bubbles that make the foam so lovely on top of a hot cup of drink. Maybe a bit pricey, but for the desired results, this is the way to go.

This worked well for about a year and a half until the handle broke off. Yes, if you didn't know that "made in PRC" meant People's Republic of China" you may be annoyed, but I realized that to begin with. Now that I have to replace it, I will go with an as yet undecided higher priced, but still stainless steel competitor, hopefully that will last longer.

Stovetop Espresso Maker - Vev Vigano Kontessa Gold 12 cup size Review

Stovetop Espresso Maker - Vev Vigano Kontessa Gold 12 cup size
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had an aluminum moka pot before, but was concerned with the fact that it was aluminum, so I went on a search to find a stainless steel moka pot and ended up with this one.
Overall, I like this pot since it is bigger than my last pot and made of stainless steel. However, there are a couple of things that could be improved upon.
First, the inside of the pot isn't stainless steel, but is coated with some mystery coating that is definitely not stainless. I'm not sure what the reason behind this coating is, but I'd rather it wasn't there. Also, the spout could be improved upon. It's positioning tends to cause minor spills when you are pouring.
While this pot isn't the perfect moka pot, it is better than any of the others I've tried, so I would recommend it.

Contrary to the elitest pump-heads, you do not need a $500 pump driven espresso maker to make terrific espresoo -- heck -- they've been making espresso for hundreds of years -- long before delonge came out with their Espresso-master 2000.
I've had this stove top model for 3 years now ... the espresso it brews is hot, smooth, and intense, but never bitter.
Similarly, you can froth milk over a low heat with a whisk and a saucepan it comes out frothier richer than a steam valve could ever produce.
The total set up is about 30 bucks. Take the $400 in savings, buy a bunch of books to enjoy with your espresso drinks.

Stove-Top Percolator Review

Stove-Top Percolator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought a product in Canada (sold under the name "Copco") that looks just like this one. The price seems rather high by US standards; presently it's $40 in Canada. I tried another brand with a flip-up lid, instead of the snap-on lid that this one has. It spewed coffee over the stove.
I've experimented a lot with coffee: drip, French press, electric percolators. For the best taste, it's got to be a pump-driven espresso machine, or a stove-top percolator. With this one, start with the pump tube in the pot, and prepare about 1.4 litres of boiling water, and fill to the 8-cup level. DO NOT add the pump tube after you've added the boiling water, because the boiling water can squirt out through the relief vent on the base, causing a SCALDING HAZARD! Add 7 scoops of freshly opened coffee (Do not store coffee in an air-tight container in the fridge; store it in an air-proof container in the freezer: stuff plastic bags into the can, or small glass jar, to displace the air). Next, put the percolator on a ceramic or coil burner, at high for one minute to get the percolation going, and then at low thereafter. The time: 17 minutes!! Yes, to get that really perky taste, that's how long it takes - no more, no less. If you cover the pot with a tea cozy (made of oven mitt materials) you usually won't need a microwave for re-heating. Use lots of sugar and 18% MF cream - you'll enjoy every slurp!

I believe this item should be called a "gas burner reducer". I use a stovetop espresso maker and the gas burner is too large to have it sit safely on top. This 'reducer' can be moved around and creates a safe and stable base for the coffee maker. Perfect.

The Bialetti 6 cup espresso maker occaisionally needs replacement gaskets due to wear and tear or if overheated. This replacement is reasonably priced and arrived quickly. Why buy a new system when the gasket can be replaced. But, alas, we couldn't find any in stores. Thanks to Amazon we are back to making espresso the traditional way. Will order again when needed. Bialetti "Musa" Stove Top Espresso Maker, 10 espresso cup Review

Bialetti Musa Stove Top Espresso Maker, 10 espresso cup
Average Reviews:

This is an excellent machine. I've used Bialetti products for years and I really enjoy having this model. It's just the right size for me and is very easy to use. To the person who says theirs exploded, I have no idea how it could have done that. I've used these various models for years and years-going back more years than I care to remember in fact-and I've never had any kind of problem with the operation of a stovetop forced-steam coffee maker.
This is a really good product for a good price, and if you're paranoid about cooking in Aluminum, then this stainless steel unit is for you.
